Student Council joins Con Agra Foods

Let's end childhood hunger in the US!

Our Manatee Student Council is joining forces with thousands of schools across the country in a fight to end child hunger in the U.S. by sponsoring Con Agra Foods "Child Hunger Ends Here" Campaign at Manatee Elementary. Please support our student council in their efforts to collect Con Agra Foods UPC's. For every UPC we collect a child in need in the United States will get a free meal. There is a large Peter Pan Peanut Butter bucket in the lobby to deposit your UPC's in. A list of Con Agra brands is on the back of the attached pamphlet. This program will run until December 16th and we will be ending it with a food drive to be delivered to a local food bank to help those in need in our own community.

Reading Update

The next reading goal is a Nov./Dec. combined goal. Students should read and take quizzes on 1 biography, one Newberry award winning book, and two science non-fiction books. All tests must be completed by Dec. 14. Please don't wait until the last minute!

Math Update

On Monday, Nov. 14 we will begin Topic 7 (Adding and Subtracting fractions with like denominators). This can be a difficult skill, so please make sure that your child is completing the homework each night and email me if you notice he or she is having difficulty so that I can work with them in class.

Thanks to all who donated snacks and supplies for our Fall celebration and to those who helped set up and clean up. Mrs. Dribble did a great job organizing and planning this event. The students tested their abilities with a rousing game of Fall themed Cranium and had a blast. Thank you all for making it a fun day!
