Reading Update

The monthly reading goal for September will be to read and take the Reading Counts quizzes for 2 Science non-fiction books and one chapter book. Please encourage your child to keep up with the goal and not to wait until the end of the month to complete this assignment. As the end of the month nears, many students are trying to grab computer time in order to take and pass the quizzes for the monthJ Students should be recording the name of the book and the page numbers read in the box on the agenda page. Please help to remind them to do so.

New Class being formed

The decision has been made to form a 4th/5th grade split class. We are losing two students to the new class. These students have received letters informing their families of the changes. If you did not receive a letter, your child will remain in my homeroom class. Mrs. Strain will be teaching the new class and they will start on Tuesday, September 4th.

Edline Updates

I know that many of you are frustrated that I have not posted grades in Edline. Due to the change in grading policy at Manatee and the new class formation we have held off on posting grades. We will be meeting with Mrs. Hall on Wednesday to clarify some points with the new system and you should expect to see some grades posted by Friday. The weekly selection tests and spelling/grammar tests are sent home each Friday in the blue folder and math work is sent home throughout the week, so you should have a good idea where your child is at this point. Thanks for your patience and please let me know if you have any questions.

I hope to see you all at Open House tonightJ
