Next week we will continue with Frindle. The test on Chapters 7-11 will be Friday, Sept. 6th. It will include vocabulary and comprehension questions as well as a short response question requiring evidence from the text. We will be working on the Lesson 3 spelling words, since it is a short week I assigned homework which is due Tuesday (spelling words to be written in cursive).
We are halfway through Unit 1. Students should bring their notes home to review at least once each week.
Science: Please keep up with the Science Fair deadlines. All the documents are posted on Mrs. Hobson's website.
Beginning in September, we will have a monthly reading goal. These are books that students can read at home and in class and take Reading Counts quizzes on. For September the goal is two science non-fiction books, one chapter book and one Social Studies book from True Flix (the online Reading program).
The Reading Counts quizzes will be averaged and students will get two reading grades for the month. Please encourage your child to keep up with this and to not wait until the end of the month to get started. The books they choose must be close to their lexile levels. My students will be taking the SRI assessment soon so that they know what their level is. For now they can show their books to me for approval.
