Using the Expanding Expressions Tool (EET) as a guide when writing!
 
  By this time in the year, I hope families of my language-impaired students have become very familiar with the EET and have seen the progress their children are making using this as an expressive language tool. Many teachers at Manatee have already been given classroom demonstrations and/or grade level demonstrations using this tool and the feedback has been very positive. I am so excited to be able to share this very valuable tool with my students.  The progress has been amazing!
  Many of my students are ready to move on to using the EET as a writing tool. Starting next week, please look for the red EET homework folder to come home with a new weekly assignment (this applies to my language-impaired students only). I will attach a strip of stickers, similar to the one above, to use when writing sentences to complete the assignment. Welcome Back!
     I am very excited to begin this new school year and to see all of our outstanding speech and language students again! I will be meeting with each student as soon as possible and will send home a letter that will provide information about the program this year.
     Manatee's speech-language pathologists had a wonderful opportunity over the summer to be trained to use the Expanding Expression Tool. It is a multi-sensory approach to improve oral and written language skills and we are excited to begin to use it with our students this year. Stuttering Awareness
Dear parents and students,
    It was wonderful to see all the students again after the winter break. I loved hearing about the fantastic trips that were taken and about time spent with their family and friends. They all returned happy and ready to go!
   The speech-language pathologists across Brevard got to attend an incredible in-service on stuttering recently presented by Nina Reeves. It was filled with great assessment and treatment information and we all left with several resources to keep at our school. I wanted to share with you two websites you can visit if you have a student that you are concerned about:
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have concerns or questions regarding stuttering and your child. As always, I encourage you to keep practicing speech homework that comes home. Practice outside of the therapy room really does make a difference!
