Pearson Success is a wonderful math program that helps all students practice math skills that we have learned in class. It is a great way for your child to work from home on the computer for extra practice. Passwords were sent home a while ago. If you have misplaced your password please feel free to shoot me an email and I will provide you with a new one.

We are working on an author study this week by Jan Brett. We will be comparing and contrasting her stories and working on main idea and details. Next week we will be studying long I, and suffixes -er -est, along with informative writing using a variety of different word choices. Please know that all students may take their reading books home each night if they would like to re-read any old stories or read the variety of stories that are in our book that we cover weekly. Please remember if you do so the books MUST come back the next day.

In Math, we are working in cooperative centers this week. Next week we will continue with place value as wee dig deeper with greater than and less than and using those symbols in math. We will continue review numbers 11 to 20. We will practice skip counting along with strategy based addition and subtraction. We will also be working with estimating, tens and ones, along with numbers up to 120.

In Science we finished up our unit on land and water unit and are moving to sun and stars this nine weeks. These 2 units of study are combined into 18 weeks and all students will test on these 2 units at the end of this nine weeks.

We completed our Social Studies district required semester assessment before the holidays. This test was based on units of study that were taught since the 2nd nine weeks. All students did well on this test. Soon we will be learning about the compass rose, map keys, and learning about Florida.

We are recycling all magazines, newspapers, Capri suns, ink cartridges, and cell phones at this time. Please bring in any of these items and we will recycle them for you!
