K – Connection
"The Kindergarten link between classroom and home"
Wow, I still can't believe that this year is over and summer is here. I have so many fond memories of the 2009-2010 k class as I watch the slideshow of events that we have experienced throughout the year. Starting with the first day of school where we had several criers not wanting to leave the comfort of mom's arms and enter into this strange room to now, criers on the last day of school not wanting to leave the familiar room for the last time. As they exited, they knew that they would never be a Kindergartener again. The exiting of the room was the entering into first grade status. What a grand moment!!!
I have enjoyed the many events this year from the open house/ice cream social, Fall harvest celebration, book character pumpkins, Thanksgiving Feast and gingerbread hunt and celebration stations to field trips to the king center, Mr. Al, Rockledge Gardens and pizza Gallery as well as Friendship day, 100th day of school, young authors, butterfly release, pizza party, pajama day and summer celebration only to name only a few of the events experienced this year. The students have matured so much as I reflect back upon their first photos' taken for our daily graphs, some of them were so young looking. As I look over the various curriculum facets that the students have experienced, there are so many subjects, themes, skill, and equations that have been mastered, built upon, and continued on to the next level. I am so proud of each and every student's accomplishments and most of all, personal best attempts given.
It has been a fabulous kindergarten year and it would not have been possible without some key parents who have helped keep things moving smoothly. Thanks to our room mom, Mrs. Freeman, for organizing, recruiting and collecting donations throughout the year for the various events that were scheduled. Thanks also to our very committed, every Friday morning, ladies who came in and completed Friday folders, Mrs. Hanney and Mrs. Petrucelli….what an awesome job you ladies did each and every week. THANK-YOU SO MUCH for all of your hard work. A big thank you to all of the volunteers that came in during the various celebration stations, walk-a-thon, 100th day, summer celebration, and to the chaperones who kept our students safe during our field trips…thanks again for all of your time and effort. I also want to thank another group of important volunteers and that is our donation group. These volunteers could not physically be here but yet they supported the class through material donations whenever a need was voiced, things always were covered and donations were made. Thank you again to everyone who had a part in this year's success. It is definitely a team effort here in our manatee family and our team has completed a successful year.
During the summer, don't forget to review the specific skills listed on the bragging sheet for your child as well as the broad array of skills listed on the reverse side of the bragging sheet. I also sent home 2 review books, science and math that can be used throughout the summer to review skills as well.
Have a wonderful, fun-filled, relaxing summer and enjoy every moment of quality time with your child. I will truly miss seeing their faces on Monday morning. Enjoy…..Summer!!!!
Manatee Elem. Faculty/Staff Softball Team
What a fantastic, down to the last inning, money's worth experience as the Manatee Manatee's defeated the Williams Cranes 12-11. The faculty/staff did a fabulous job representing the school and Mr. Larry hit in the winning run. What a great start to the summer vacation.
