Writer Wall of Fame
Congratulations to Destiny for being selected as our Writer’s Wall of Fame recipient!! This week was the final week for the Writing Wall of Fame. We are now focusing on our quality literature books. This assignment for your child to create their own book was sent home at winter break. If your child completed their book, please send it in, books are now due. We will be selecting 2 books to represent our class at the Quality Literature and Young Authors Celebration in May.
King Center Field Trip
There is a reminder letter in today’s Friday folder with information about our field trip on Tuesday. A reminder letter will also go home on Monday to remind students to bring their lunch for Tuesday. Please refer to the letter in the folder for more information.
Don’t’ forget, there is only one more week of school left until Spring Break. This year’s spring break begins on Monday, March 29th and goes through Friday, April 2nd. Students will return to school bright and early on Monday, April 5 at 7:50 a.m..
Hitting the Books 2010
Next week is the last week to turn in your “Hitting the Books 2010” forms that will earn your child 2 free tickets to a Manatee game. Remember to fill out the 10 book titles between each base to score a home run. Return to Mrs. McLellan and she will issue a certificate that will be good for 2 free tickets to a Tuesday evening Manatee game.
Thanks for the donation of supplies for the classroom
Thank-you to all of the families that donated Lysol/Clorox wipes, 4 oz. glue bottles, and gallon size baggies. Our supply has been replenished and I am hoping that it will last until the end of the school year. Thanks again for your donations.
The 3rd nine week progress reports will be distributed on Tuesday, March 23rd (same day as our field trip). There are only 40 days left in this school year.
Please remember that we have snack time every day and your child is responsible for bringing in their own daily snack. Please make this a part of your morning routine or have it as part of your nighttime routine to put it in the backpack the night before.
"Welcome to the Jungle”
Only four more practices until our musical production “Welcome to the Jungle” will take place. In today’s Friday folder, there is a reminder letter with important information concerning arrival on Thursday evening. We could use your help with one area, if your child has a speaking part, please work with them on saying their part loud and slow. The program will begin at 5:30 but the students will need to arrive to the classroom at 5:00. (Doors to the performance hall will open at 5:00) Since we have 7 kindergarten classes, 3 classes will perform at 5:30 and the other 4 classes will perform at 6:30. The show will last approximately 30 min. which will give us time to exit before the next group of eager parents arrive. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
NEW KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION
Kindergarten Orientation for new kindergarteners for next year will be held on Thursday, April 20th at 6:00 p.m. If you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten in August, please call the school office to confirm that you are coming to the meeting. You can also call the office if you are not sure of what school your child will attend due to redistricting.
Keep clipping, saving and sending in the following items:
Box Tops, Campbell Soup Labels, Capri Sun Pouches & Pop Tops
Manatee will continue to collect General Mills box tops and the UPC from Campbell soup labels all year long as well as Capri Sun pouches. This is a great, easy way that you can help our PTO fund requests for classroom materials and manipulative request from teachers. Clipping these items will only cost you minimal time and effort. We are also collecting pop top tabs as we support the Ronald McDonald house through tab donations.
