NEW KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION
Kindergarten Orientation for new kindergarten families for next year will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at 6:00 p.m. If you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten in August, please call the school office to confirm that you are coming to the meeting. You can also call the office if you are not sure of what school your child will attend due to redistricting. If you know of anyone that has an incoming kindergartener, please spread the word about our kindergarten orientation next Tuesday evening.
Young Author Celebration
A Great Job to all of the student authors who submitted books for the Young Authors Challenge. We had over 9 books turned in from our classroom. Out of the books that were turned in, a team read through each book and chose 2 to go on to the Young Author Celebration to represent our class. The two books and authors that were chosen by the team were Hannah and Eryn. Congratulations to these fabulous authors for writing such creative stories. The stories from our class will be on display so make sure that you stop by and read some great stories written and illustrated by our very own kindergarten authors.
Spaghetti dinner flyer went home last week in the Friday folder with an area that you can order spaghetti dinners either to eat in or eat out. Order must be pre-paid and a ticket will be issued upon payment. Please refer to last week’s flyer or the school newsletter for more information. The spaghetti dinner will take place on May 6th in Hopper Hall.
During the week of May 3-7th Manatee will host a spring scholastic book fair in the media center. The book fair will be open during the spaghetti dinner for families to shop. We will also have an assigned classroom time in which we will visit the library as a class to select books for purchasing. Stay tuned for more details soon to be released by the Media center.
On Wednesday, April 28th, we will be going on a field trip to Rockledge Gardens to learn about plants, insects, and other gardening ideas. Permission slips have already been distributed and chaperones have been contacted. We will leave the school around 9:30 and return by 1:30. We will also be going to a local park and having a picnic lunch. Please refer to the flyer that went home with the permission slips for all of the specific details about our upcoming trip.
Early Dismissal Days
Please mark your calendars for Wednesday May 19th, Thursday May 20th and Friday May 21st. These last 3 days are early dismissal days and the students will get out one hour earlier. Bus riders will arrive at home one hour earlier than their normal time. Car riders will need to be picked up at 1:20 instead of the normal 2:20 time. Please make a note of this now so plans can be made for this upcoming dismissal change.
Please remember that we have snack time every day and your child is responsible for bringing in their own daily snack and utensils. Please make this a part of your morning routine or have it as part of your nighttime routine to put it in the backpack the night before. If your child needs a utensil for their snack, please pack that as well. We have depleted our supply of utensils for this year.
Keep clipping, saving and sending in the following items:
Box Tops, Campbell Soup Labels, Capri Sun Pouches & Pop Tops
Manatee will continue to collect General Mills box tops and the UPC from Campbell soup labels all year long as well as Capri Sun pouches. This is a great, easy way that you can help our PTO fund requests for classroom materials and manipulative request from teachers. Clipping these items will only cost you minimal time and effort. We are also collecting pop top tabs as we support the Ronald McDonald house through tab donations.
