 Field Trip

What a great adventure we had at Rockledge Gardens. The weather was picture perfect and the temperature was just awesome. We learned about the history of Rockledge Gardens and how it has been a family business. We learned all about different kinds of plants, tree’s, butterfly life cycle, and we even got to plant a sunflower seed.  Thanks to the chaperones that helped us get around and keep us safe both at Rockledge Gardens and at the playground. Our picnic was fabulous and we had a great time playing on a new playground. Today, your child will be bringing home their pot with their sunflower seed in it. Please continue to water it and let me know when you see a sprout.  I can’t wait for the next stage of the plant cycle to emerge.

McLellan’s End of the Year Bragging Session

It is time to schedule your child's Bragging Time Opportunity. My goal is to meet with each family before the end of the school year to brag on your child’s progress, end of the year assessments and summer skills.  I emailed each family an attachment which has the bragging session schedule. Please select a 1st 2nd and 3rd choice for a date and time that would be convenient for you to meet with me.  I will email you a confirmation on a date and time available from the 3 selections that you submitted. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Spaghetti Dinner

The spaghetti  will be held on Thursday, May 6th in Hopper Hall.  Please bring your tickets or paid receipt to dine in or pick up your dinner. Don’t forget to visit the book fair in the media center before you leave for the evening.

 Book Fair

During the week of May 3-7th Manatee will host a spring scholastic book fair in the media center.  The book fair will be open during the spaghetti dinner for families to shop.  We will also have an assigned classroom time in which we will visit the library as a class to select books for purchasing. In today’s Friday folder, a book fair selection list was sent home for you to look through.  If you would like to pre-order a book from the book fair, write in the book selection and return the order form with the payment.  You are more than welcome to wait until our class preview date and shop at the book fair with your child. You can also come in and shop anytime before or after school. Stay tuned for more upcoming info.

Lunch Prepayment: Very Important Information

Please note that the last day to receive checks for prepaid lunch accounts will be May 10th, after that, the cafeteria will only be able to take cash or mealpayplus – online.  Thanks for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

Early Dismissal Days

Please mark your calendars for Wednesday May 19th, Thursday May 20th and Friday May 21st. These last 3 days are early dismissal days and the students will get out one hour earlier. Bus riders will arrive at home one hour earlier than their normal time.  Car riders will need to be picked up at 1:20 instead of the normal 2:20 time. Please make a note of this now so plans can be made for this upcoming dismissal change.

 Young Author Celebration

On Friday, May 14th, Eryn and Hannah will be representing our kindergarten class at the Young Author Celebration . This is a red carpet event and they are the special guest.  They will be reading their books to a very special audience as well as listening to other first time authors. I am very proud of our two representatives and I know that they will represent us well.

Please remember that we have snack time every day and your child is responsible for bringing in their own daily snack and utensils.  Please make this a part of your morning routine or have it as part of your nighttime routine to put it in the backpack the night before.  If your child needs a utensil for their snack, please pack that as well. We have depleted our supply of utensils for this year.

Keep clipping, saving and sending in the following items:

Box Tops, Campbell Soup Labels, Capri Sun Pouches & Pop Tops

Manatee will continue to collect General Mills box tops and the UPC from Campbell soup labels all year long as well as Capri Sun pouches.   This is a great, easy way that you can help our PTO fund requests for classroom materials and manipulative request from teachers. Clipping these items will only cost you minimal time and effort. We are also collecting pop top tabs as we support the Ronald McDonald
