Coming Soon to your Local Library:  Manatee Book Fair

You are invited to our Fall Scholastic Book Fair

in the Media Center on Oct 18th-22nd between 8:00-3:00 each day!

Our newest theme: Here's to Our Heroes! Reading Saves the Day! Celebrating heroes from the ordinary to the extraordinary through celebrating books which help to lay the foundation for tomorrow's heroes...your children. Literacy...the ability to read, write, and understand ...is the pathway to success in school... you could call it the ultimate superpower. Getting lost in books is a great way for kids to build reading comprehension and to explore new concepts.

Each day, we have exciting events prepared to stimulate and motivate our young Manatee readers. Ask about our daily guessing activity and how many books each day were given away FREE for being caught using "super powerful" character choices!! Lots of special ways to make our Book Fair more than about selling books...but to focus on the importance of developing a love of reading!

A Book Fair connects students with books at affordable prices and makes reading a positive experience. Children are more likely to read the books they personally get to choose. It's one of the best ways to get more kids reading, and kids reading more! We will also have available for pre sale the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book….to be delivered 2 weeks afterwards, on Nov. 10th when released to the public. Ask for more details & savings!!

Our Book Fair needs one more Super Heroic goal: if we are able to sell 2500 books by the time the Book Fair concludes, Mr. Brown, Mrs. Hall or myself will dress up as superheroes and to do something wacky, just to get children to read more...to prove that we consider reading to be very important! Can you imagine Mr. Brown dressed like a superhero getting super slimed???

We will also participate in the One for Books program. Kids will be able to vote for their favorite Manatee Superhero to get slimed with their loose change throughout the week! Any money collected will help bring books to children all around the world through the national non-profit organizations dedicated to helping families in need such as the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., and Kids in Need Foundation! This program gives our Manatee students a chance to be Heroes!!

Don't forget you can also join us during

our Harvest Hoe Down Family Night

on Friday, Oct. 22nd from 4:30-6:30p.m.

(remember, the Harvest Hoe Down is from 5:00-7:00pm)

If you'd like to help volunteer or just want to stop by and see all the fun...the doors are always open!
